The Kitamaat Valley Education Society (KVES) will be closed on Friday, June 21st, in observance of Indigenous Peoples Day. This day is dedicated to honoring and celebrating the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous communities across Canada.
At KVES, we deeply value the importance of this day as a time for reflection, education, and unity. We recognize and acknowledge that we are on the unceded territory of the Haisla people, whose rich history and vibrant culture continue to enrich our community.
As part of our commitment to reconciliation, we strive to foster respectful and meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities. We are dedicated to learning from and supporting Indigenous voices, promoting cultural awareness, and advocating for the rights and recognition of Indigenous peoples.
Indigenous Peoples Day is a reminder of the ongoing journey towards reconciliation, understanding, and mutual respect. We encourage everyone to take this day to engage with and learn from Indigenous cultures, and to reflect on the ways we can contribute to a more inclusive and equitable society.
