In partnership with BCIT, this initiative brings professional‑level training directly to Kitimat so local residents and Indigenous learners can access high‑quality education without leaving their community. The program includes academic preparation, job‑readiness training, cultural and community supports, and a clear pathway into BCIT’s 4th Class Power Engineering program.
Power Engineering plays a crucial role in major industries such as LNG, mining, healthcare, utilities, and marine operations. Employers throughout the region are experiencing ongoing shortages of qualified Power Engineers, creating strong opportunities for long‑term, well‑paid careers close to home. This initiative is designed to help participants build confidence in math and science fundamentals, gain hands‑on exposure to industry equipment, and prepare for certification through a combination of local instruction and BCIT lab training.
